The best Analgesics used for dogs and cats

 There have many analgesics used for dogs and cats, five analgesics are given below:

1.Morphine 

Dose

Dog: 0.5-2 mg/kg

Cat: 0.1-0.4 mg/kg

Routes 

S/C or I/M 3-4 hours intervals.

2.Meloxicam

Dose

Dog : 0.1-0.2 mg/kg

Cat: 0.15 mg/kg

Routes

S/C route, if not suppress pain given orally.

3.Fentanyl

Dose

Dog: 0.004-0.001 mg/kg

Cat: 2-5 mg/kg

Routes

I/V or I/M,  two hours intervals.

4.Meperidine

Dose

Dog: 5-10 mg/kg

Cat: 2-5 mg/kg

Routes

S/C or I/M,  30 minutes or 1 hour intervals.

5.Buprenorphine

Dose

0.005-0.015 mg/kg for dogs and cats

Route

S/C or I/M or I/V, 6-12 hours intervals.
