  Prescription

A prescription is an order to a pharmacist written by a licensed medical practitioner to prepare the prescribed medication to affix the direction and to sell the preparation to the client or patient.

Components of a prescription

1.The date the prescription was written

2.The name and address of the owner and the patient data. 

3.The superscription Rx is an abbreviation of the Latin word recaipe ('take thou').The stroke after the "R" is believed by some to be an abbreviation,other consideration is the ancient invocation of chaldean physicians to the Roman god Jupitar.

4.The inscription lists the name and amount of drugs to be incorporated in the prescription.

5.The subscription gives the instruction to the pharmacist.

6.The signa (sig.) also called the transcription consists of instruction for the administration of the medication which the pharmacist is to be write on the label.

7.The signature of the practitioner.
